It is already the merry month of May and time to add onto our annual Spiritual Goal study: "Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear. . . "
The whole goal is from page 323 of Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy:
"Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea. Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear,--this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony. The purification of sense and self is a proof of progress. ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.’ “
Thank you, Pam Dickson, for the inspirational and helpful readings last Wednesday evening on the first part of this phrase, “Gladness to leave the false landmarks. . .”.
After that meeting, I was busy contemplating the next step, “. . . and joy to see them disappear. . . “ I realized we should not want to hold onto these false landmarks, but should gladly let them go.
Then I could visualize them instantly “disappearing.” When we release them, the false landmarks are GONE! They are no longer here. There is no trace of them. Those thoughts led me to this comforting idea of Mrs. Eddy’s, “If the Scientist reaches his patient through divine Love, the healing work will be accomplished at one visit, and the disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sunshine.” Science & Health with Key to the Scriptures, p.365
This month, let us gladly let go of the false landmarks and joyfully see them disappear. We would love to hear your thoughts at our Wednesday testimony meetings and on the blog at ChristianScienceFortCollins.com.
