August is here, so it’s time to revisit our annual Spiritual Goal study: This month, we are adding two words to the phrase from July: “The purification of sense and self. . . ” The whole goal is from page 323 of Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy:
"Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea. Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear,--this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony. The purification of sense and self is a proof of progress. ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.’ “
Thanks to Pam Dickson for such beautiful readings the last Wednesday of July that gave us an understanding of the July goal. Now we can think about the difference between sense and self. As we open our eyes and ears and realize we are created by Love and reside in the Kingdom of Heaven, we will rejoice!
Feel free to share your thoughts about this idea at a church service or on the blog at ChristianScienceFortCollins.com.
Thanks so much!
