With the coming of April, it is time to study the next phrase of our annual Spiritual Goal: "Gladness to leave the false landmarks . . . "
The whole goal is from page 323 of Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy:
"Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea. Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear,--this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony. The purification of sense and self is a proof of progress. ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.’ “
As I think about the term "landmark" I think of a land form that can be seen from a distance that often helps people follow the path of a journey. I also think of an important event in the course of a life. What false landmarks are we using to direct or measure our lives? What are the true landmarks we should look for that will determine our progress and growth Spiritward?
We would love to hear your thoughts at our Wednesday testimony meetings and on the blog at ChristianScienceFortCollins.com <http://ChristianScienceFortCollins.com> .
