We used a protocol where everyone had a chance to share what they had focused on from Matthew 5 since our last meeting, including if there was a change in thought that may have resulted in a demonstration of God’s law, and any new spiritual insights from studying this part of the Sermon on the Mount. You can see the protocol on the blog on our website, ChristianScienceFortCollins.com.
Then we talked about what the next topic should be for our next meeting, Thursday, October 1, from 11:00 to 12:00.
We decided to continue studying the Sermon on the Mount—this time Chapters 5 AND 6, with the goal of each of us selecting a part of the sermon to live/use/practice between now and October 1. For more information on the Beatitudes, be sure to check out the podcasts by Barry Huff and Susie Rynerson at http://christianscience.com/member-resources/for-churches/sunday-schools/sunday-school-resources/media-library/beatitudes-1-of-9 or just Google Barry Huff and the Beatitudes. We hope you will share the results on October 1, at a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, or on our church’s blog! Email Steve Knox your thoughts for the blog (firstname.lastname@example.org)
A second topic to think about is how these two chapters of The Sermon on the Mount “speak” to our church’s spiritual goal found on page 340 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. (Our study for the month of September is how “one God, good, equalizes the sexes.”)
Another suggestion for future Bible study projects is to purchase one or more Bible lectures by Madelon Maupin and have one person present a summary of the selected presentation. There are also workbooks that accompany her workshops.
In addition, Boulder church has a Bible curriculum for the Sunday School students that might be of interest to us as well.
Until next time,
