With the arrival of September, it is time to move to the next phase of our metaphysical study. We will study the sixth phrase of the citation from page 340 in Science and Health with key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy,
“One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfills the Scripture, “Love thy neighbor as thyself;” annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry,--whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed.”
Our First Reader will share readings on this topic on Wednesday, September 30. Come and share your inspirations at the Wednesday services. You can also share your thoughts on our website blog, by using the “ADD Comment” feature.” (ChristianScienceFortCollins.com, click on "Blog", then click on "Add Comment" at the end of the Blog). That way we will have all of our ideas in one area for us to refer. We can also participate in a back and forth conversation if desired.
Beginning thoughts: Our upcoming lecturer, Mary Alice Rose, has a lead article in the August 24 Christian Science Sentinel titled, “Woman is blessed, not cursed.” In the article she talks about praying for “true womanhood.”
Interestingly, this is a concept I had just been thinking about after attending the 60th Reunion at Adventure Unlimited where I was reminded that in the earlier days of camp (and even while I was at camp and probably today), Cap and Marianne Andrews made sure the campers thought about qualities of “true manhood and womanhood.” What are your thoughts about how these incorporate the “complete nature of God,” as Mary Alice Rose mentions? I also like what Mary Alice Rose says, “The focus of Mrs. Eddy’s lifework was on liberating not just women but all of humanity from a limited, material sense of God and man.”
Here’s to another month of inspiration and spiritual growth!
